A For Anniversary was a play performed in 2022 at Lumsden High School, marking a major milestone for Joshua. This was the first play he wrote and directed entirely on his own, and he poured a tremendous amount of time and effort into making sure it would be a memorable production. Joshua took on the challenge of creating an engaging story and worked closely with his cast to ensure that each scene was impactful and entertaining for the audience. His goal was to make the play successful enough to be shown publicly, and his dedication truly paid off. The play was featured as part of a special “One-Act Play Night” hosted by the school, alongside two other one-act plays.
Joshua collaborated with a talented cast, including Cas Kreller as Nick, Morgan Tumbach as Barbra, Alyssa Lamb as Mom, Kaige Bender as Dad, and Harry White as Kenny. Together, they brought the story to life, working hard to capture the humor and chaos of a family gathering gone slightly awry.
The story of "A For Anniversary" centers around Nick and Barbra, who are busily preparing the house for Nick’s parents’ anniversary celebration. It’s not just any family gathering, though. Nick’s family has its quirks, including a mother who is an overly high-achieving perfectionist and a brother with a fascination for the dark and gothic. With these personalities in the mix, what should be a simple celebration quickly turns into a chaotic event filled with surprises and humor. Joshua’s play explores the dynamics of family relationships in a lighthearted way, showing how celebrations can sometimes bring out the best—and the most unusual—in everyone involved.
"A For Anniversary was a very important play to me. It marks my first play ever, written and directed, that was shown live on stage..."
